Although widely popular as an industrial township, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) area boasts of a number of historical and cultural markers dating back nearly 2,000 years. This region is associated with the two giants of the Varkari tradition – Sant Tukaram and Sant Dnyaneshwar, whose poetry in adoration of Lord Vitthal of Pandharpur is sung even today. Various stone inscriptions, temples, and other architectural wonders also attest to PCMC’s long-standing artistic vibrancy.
